Attendance Info. *Gym opens at 7: 40 *Arrive by 8: 15 *School Hours: 8: 30 -3: 30 Please send absentee notes on a separate piece of paper so I can send to secretary. ** I strongly suggest that you avoid appointments during school hours, if at all possible. The time missed in class can never be duplicated. *Fever Free for 24 hours

Checking Out Early • Please send a note in the agenda anytime your child will be checking out of school early. • Indicate if he/she WILL or WILL NOT be returning that day. • I will gather work, if possible.

Dismissal *Please call or send a dated note anytime there is a change in afternoon transportation. *Do not have your child verbally tell me of the change. *Must have car tags VISIBLE or you will have to come in and sign out child. *NO “walk ups” to pick up students.

Snacks Children are to bring a healthy, neat snacks from home every day and WATER only. *We eat as we work = no messy foods!! **Water bottles must have a pull-top lid. ** Community Snacks (send if possible to share)

Birthdays In honor of your child’s birthday, you can donate the following to our class: - book - educational game - “G” rated DVD If you would like to send a treat to celebrate, we will enjoy these during our LUNCH time. (see schedule for time) If you send invitations, it must be for entire class or ALL boys/ALL girls.

Class Parties CHRISTMAS and VALENTINE’S I will send more detailed information as these holidays approach. We’ll need volunteers to organize, send goodies, and help at the party.

Field Trips • Students must ride bus, even if parent chaperones. Chaperones can carpool. • Wear class shirt. • More info. as trips approach

Report Cards • Report cards are distributed every 9 weeks. • Markings are determined by teacher observation, daily work, projects, homework, tests, and achievement. • Please sign and return to school in a timely manner.

Lunch All student breakfasts and lunches will be free this year thanks to a grant we received from the state. However, if your child goes through the cafeteria line, he or she MUST get at least these three items: a milk, fruit, and vegetable. If they only get one or two items, they must be purchased.

Allergies We have NUT allergies in class. Therefore, we will NOT send treats that contain nuts or were made in such a facility as a WHOLE class treat. We also have a sugar wafer cookie allergy, so we will avoid those as well.

Devices New Policy this year. (form to sign) I will let you know, in advance, when students can bring their personal electronic devices to school

Discipline Policy Classroom Rules: Ø 1. Follow directions the FIRST time given. Ø 2. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Ø 3. Raise your hand before you talk, and raise your hand before you walk. Ø 4. Listen carefully when others are talking. “BEE” Ø 5. Treat others like you want to be on your treated. best behavior!

Card-Pulling System The behavior management system used in my classroom gives students a visual representation of their behavior for the day. Students will receive both positive and negative reinforcement. Behavior Card Colors: GREAT Green, OKAY Orange, YUCKY Yellow, ROWDY Red, and PRINCIPAL Purple Each child begins the day on Okay Orange, and according to his/her choices, the card will be moved.

Card-Pulling System Choosing to Break a Rule: First Time: Second Time: Third Time: Fourth Time: Severe Action: Warning (no card change) Move card to Yucky Yellow Lose half of Recess/Free Time Move card to Rowdy Red Lose all of Recess/Free Time Move card to Principal Purple Sent to Principal's office Sent immediately to Principal’s office No redirection needed ALL day: Move to Great Green BINGO board

Card-Pulling System Getting a STRIP: Sometimes students do minor things that are against the rules, but I do not believe they are “card pulling worthy. ” When one of these occur, students will get a strip, rather than a pulled card. A strip equals one minute off recess. 3 strips in 1 day = a pulled card.

Communicating Behavior • If your child pulled a card, I will always explain WHY. • PC = pulled card • Please discuss the behavior with your child and what better choice they should make next time. • Sign or initial the agenda note so that we know you’ve discussed the pulled card with your child. • I ask parents to make a BIG DEAL about pulling cards. If there are consequences at home for misbehavior, it will probably happen less often! • If agenda is blank = GREAT DAY with no pulled cards

Behavior Rewards • Students who earn GREEN or ORANGE all week, will get a Candy Treat on Friday afternoon! • When we fill our BINGO board, I will do a drawing and the lucky winner gets to pick a prize from the treasure chest! • Every few months our treasure chest runs low…Please send in small toys, games, stickers, etc. to keep it full of FUN!. Thank you!

Class Reward 25 Specials Stars When our class goes to pull-outs, that teacher sends back a behavior report. Thumbs up or Thumbs down When we get a thumbs up, it’s documented on our chart. Once our class earns 25 stars, we will get a special reward!!!

Homework Policy *Do not do your child’s homework for them. * -Return on assigned day -Additional assignments are given to students who need extra practice. -Please do NOT tell your child the answer. **Give clues to help them. **

Backpack Check • DAILY • Remove all work pages and/or crafts from the parent folder promptly • Items left in folder for more than a week will be “emptied” at school

Agenda Please check and respond to it daily. -Calendar events & behavior updates -Check back pocket -Write important school dates accordingly (write small please) **Every weekend, please move the agenda clip to the new week. **

Parent Folder • weekly work • DISCUSS work: praise a job well done and spend a few minutes going over work with which your child struggled. • LEFT and RIGHT side • *Note: small papers that may fall out of folder will be sent home in the agenda pocket.

Parent Volunteers Parents, we need you!!! • Please let me know a day or two in advance so I can prepare work for you. • If you work, I can send projects home! • Please consider taking on one (or more) of the projects listed on your “Parent Round-Up” form. • Please do not use your cell phone while working with students.

Pictures of Students If you take pictures of students (other than your own child), please do not post them on the internet. This includes Facbook, Youtube, etc. ) Thank you!
