Welcome to Drama at Okehampton College! There are two tasks for you to choose from, or you can complete both if you like! Task A teaches you to ‘Create a storyboard’ using the title ‘My Favourite Day in Lockdown’. What was your favourite day or experience during lockdown? A storyboard is a tool for mapping out how a performance will unfold. It looks like a comic strip. Each square represents a scene. It shows who or what is in the scene and what is happening.
• There are two templates you can choose from – or you can make your own. (These are available as separate files. ) • Template 1 – Larger boxes for if you prefer to draw more than you write. • Template 2 – smaller boxes with more space for text.
• How did your favourite day unfold? • Think about how you will split this down into different scenes or moments. • You might need to simplify the day to just focus on the main ‘event’. Make sure it has a beginning, middle and end. • The beginning = helps to set out the scene and introduces the characters • The middle = contains the main action of the story • The end = gives a conclusion to the story (or a cliff hanger allows for a sequel).
• Draw the main action or image of each scene – remember, one scene per box. • Think about what you would want the audience focusing on if you were performing the scene. • Don’t worry if you’re not an artist – simple stick figures will do the trick.
• Under each rectangle, write a short summary about what is happening. • You can include dialogue as well as description. • You can also include speech or sound bubbles with your drawings. • Re-read your storyboard to make sure it tells the story clearly.
