Answers a) b) c) d) The beauty of the river Brahmaputra inspired Zainul Abedin in all his famous works of paintings. ‘Famine Sketches’are a series of sketches drawn by Zainul Abedin with a view to portraying the real pictures of the effects of famine of human beings that took place in 1940. He made his own ink by burning charcoal. Zainul Abedin is an artist of outstanding talent. His own artistic skills proves him to be the pioneer of Bangladeshi modern art.

e) East Pakistan was deprived of cultural and political freedom during the Pakistani regime. In his paintings , Zainul showed how East Pakistan was becoming poorer. He showed a strong protest through his art and then people became aware of their fundamental rights. Thus, his art played a vital role to intensify the non cooperation movement against the Pakistani regime.
