Measurement Results Task Breakdown Search + Navigation Settings Navigate to Destination Give Feedback Search 5/5 Found Directions? 3/5 Completed 5/5 Adjust Arrival Time 0/5 Set Filters 5/5
Results ● Participants ignored the onboarding process “Am I supposed to skip this? ” “How do I search for my destination from here? ” ➨ Front-load less onboarding, make it incremental (during app use)
Results ● Some users were unable to find the route to their destination “Now what? ” ➨ Add a small marker at the edge of the screen to hint at destination ➨ Move directional indicator panel to more visible location
Results ● Participants never adjusted the arrive-by time “I thought that shows you what time you arrive at your destination. ” ➨ Make all the UI colors consistent, and add visual cues for clickable objects
Results ● Some users didn’t understand the purpose of the feedback screen ➨ Add details screen to places
Discussion Limitations of Current Method - Physical limitation for navigating No compensation ⇢ less obligation to participate Short testing period ⇢ less time for user to take their time
Summary Preserving our unique identity vs. Matching users’ expectations of traditional nav apps Minimize reliance on textual information
