Traditional Modified Mc. Master Method dates back 40 years • Sample added to saturated salt solution in an enclosed jar • Saturated salt solution added with glass beads to the jar • Sample passed manually through a sieve to remove debris • Sample shook and allowed to stand for 3 – 5 minutes • Fluid drawn off top of sample and placed into Mc. Masters chamber

Traditional Modified Mc. Master Method • Health and Safety issues • Aerosol production • Cleaning sieve and beads between samples • Inconsistent sample mixing between users • Possibility of cross contamination if sieve not cleaned correctly • Time consuming technique

Veterinary Parasep Comparable or greater egg yields • Tests conducted by Veterinary Laboratories Agency showed that Veterinary Parasep used with centrifugation produced consistently higher egg counts than the Improved Modified Mc. Master method alone • Tests without centrifugation gave comparable results to the Modified Mc. Master method.
