2017 Permit Amendment: 2017 PA-SCHOOLS • Flint, Michigan • Current Lead and Copper Rule does not include schools • Permit amended in January 2017 • All community water systems shall: – Assist Kindergarten to 12 th grade (K-12) public or private schools who request lead sampling – Complete by November 1, 2019 2 | emwd. org

Assisting Schools with Lead sampling • EMWD must respond within 60 days and meet with school, finalize a plan and sample within 90 days • Sample plan may include up to 5 sample sites: – During the school session - Tuesday through Friday – After 6 hours of inactivity, collect first flush – EMWD will include a source water sample • Electronic reporting to State and copy to school representative • No action needed if results are 15 ppb or less 3 | emwd. org

If Sample(s) Exceed 15 ppb • Notify school within two (school) days of receipt
