Sixty years on: who was right? Pulgram: “Avignon is a pleasant town, the hospitality of the local organizing committee was wonderful and its work prodigious and admirable, we had an interesting excursion, we were served an impressive banquet (with good food!) in the grandiose Palais des Papes, and everyone seemed happy. I also learned something (albeit in a negative way) and was very much pleased to be a participant at the meetings. But nothing was done for Latin, really. ” Beach: “It was voted that a second Congress should be held in 1958 and the invitation was given that it be held in Brussels at the time of the World's Fair. That vote was unanimously adopted, as well as the vote that Latin alone be used. Let us hope that more Americans will attend that Congress and come home enthusiastic and inspired. ”
