Dignity of Women Stressing on ‘Dignity of Women’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged all the corporate sectors to build separate toilet for girls in schools across the country by next year.

Dream to build 150 Toilets for boys & girls in the schools & also for the needy community.

“I want to start one work from today. There should be separate toilet in the Schools for Girls & Boys. Then only our girls will not quit going to Schools. ”

Target to build toilet blocks by 30 th June 2017

Make Provision for building toilets specially for girls so that women do not defecate in the open.

• Women & young girls wait for dusk, until then they cannot relieve themselves. • How much pain their body will be going through? • How many diseases they • must be prone to? • We plan to make provisions for a toilet for the dignity of our Mother & sisters?

WE APPEAL Let each Rotary Club build minimum one toilet seat.

The first 40 seats sponsored by the Clubs from whom we receive cheque shall be matched by the District on 1 st come 1 st served basis.

Each Toilet Block will be comprising of four toilet seats & two toilet seats. Cost of Each Toilet Seat : - Rs. 1, 10, 000/

Handwashing Station shall also be built.

50 Packs of Sanitary Napkins will be given free by District for 50 girls in each school. Incinerator to dispose off Sanitary Napkins will also be installed.

We need support for 3000 Books on Hygiene & Sanitation for Rs. 100/- each to be distributed in Schools. 50 Incinerators for Rs. 3, 300/- each to dispose Sanitary napkins. 30, 000 packs of Sanitary Napkins for Rs. 200/- each pack Sanitary Napkins, Books & Incinerators

We need space to build one toilet block with four toilet seats & two toilet seats with water connection & Electricity.

Rotarians do not make tall claims. They fulfill what they promise.

Building the toilet block will encourage Parents in rural areas to continue educating the Daughters after they attain puberty.

Building toilets will provide an ideal location for the much required privacy. Before & After

Orientation Programs for the higher Secondary girls students may be organized to discuss health & use of hygienic toilets & also explain that the biological changes in the body was not a taboo.

The new toilet block will be of a modern kind & easy to maintain.

Rotary NITYAM - WINS Team will specially Build all functional toilets

It is our determination to ensure our responsibility towards the clean environment for both boys & girls students.

It is the responsibility of every Rotary Club to construct separate toilets for girls & boys.

This is one area where we can empower Girl child by providing them basic facilities.

Recognitions ØClubs who build maximum toilets will be recognized during the District Conference. ØClubs who build ten toilets will be recognized in a special District Function.

What we need from Club President üEach Club should appoint an active chairman for our NITYAM – WINS Project, ü Send the Contact details of NITYAM –WINS Club Chairman latest by 12 th April 2016.

üEach Club is requested to contribute Rs. 1, 10, 000/towards the cost of one toilet seat. üThe Club may identify any sponsorer who may Contribute in the multiples of Rs. 1, 10, 000/-.

üThe Club may partially share the cost of Rs. 1, 10, 000/with the sponsorer identified by them.

üIdentify Rotarians in your Club Who are in the Profession of Construction & who can help in building the toilet blocks as per the specification prepared preferably in Boisar –Tarapur, Dahanu & Palghar area.

üIdentify Rotarians in the Club who can help for the Publicity of our Thrust Area NITYAM - WINS – Building Toilets through hoarding, buses, bus- stops, T. V. Channels, Magazines, Bulletins, Flight Magazines & Radio. ü You may publicize through your Club Bulletin also.

üEach Rotary Club must identify Schools in their area of Mumbai & Surrounding areas where the toilet for girls & boys can be built. ü Please provide the name & location of the school where you wish to build the toilet.

The club must organize a special educational program for the girl students for their personal hygiene training in the school for hand washing after defecation, before eating & cooking, managing menstural hygiene facilities, Using Sanitary napkins & disposing the same, behavior change activities, improved sanitation, cleaning the toilets after using etc.

Clubs must organize hygiene promotion & education through posters, wall Painting, messaging, hoarding, street plays, events & competitions etc.

President of each Rotary Club is requested to make sure that the NITYAM WINS Club Chairman attend the assembly on 27 th March 2016 to enlighten themselves on the District Thrust Area Project NITYAM – WINS – Building Toilets.

Clubs must promote five benefits of our District Thrust Area NITYAM - WINS Building Toilets

Building toilet for Girls & Boys separately will provide a healthy & protective School Environment, minimizing risk of disease, abuse & exclusion.

Building toilet for Girls will encourage pride & commitment to school by enabling every girl child to become an agent of change for improving water, sanitation & hygiene practices in their families & their community.

Building toilet for Boys & Girls separately will be an investment in the health & well being of future generations, valuable commodities for the Country’s development & growth.

Building toilet for Girls will promote equity with the provision of separate toilets for girls ensuring privacy & dignity & contributing girl’s school attendance & retention.

Building toilet for Girls will discourage the habit of defecation in open & will encourage children to insist their family members for a toilet in their homes.

In the words of Albert Camus, this is my personal request to all the Presidents when I quote, “Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead, Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow, Just walk beside me & be my friend. ”
