Paul has a vision Acts 16: 6 -9 Paul was on a journey with some friends. One night, when they had stopped so they could sleep, Paul had a special kind of called a vision. He saw a man at a place called Macedonia who said, “Come over and help us!”

Paul has a vision Acts 16: 6 -9 When Paul awoke he said to his friends: “I had a strange dream last night! We must go to Macedonia. ” He knew God wanted them to go there and help the people to learn about.

Paul Meets Lydia Acts 16: 10 -14 So Paul and his friends went off to Macedonia. They decided to stay for a few days in the biggest town there called Phillipi. On the day when they would usually go to worship God, they found some people having a prayer meeting by the river. At the meeting was a lady called Lydia.

Lydia’s job was selling purple cloth. In those days, important people bought purple cloth for making clothes. Here are some purple things, can you name them? Some are easy and some are tricky

Lydia wants to help Acts 16: 15 -16 Lydia believed in God but she did not know about Jesus. She listened carefully when Paul told them all about the things Jesus did and how he had died on the cross for our sins and then came alive.

Lydia wants to help Acts 16: 15 -16 Lydia believed what Paul said and accepted that she was bad inside and needed Jesus to save her. God had changed her heart so that she trusted in Jesus. After she had trusted in Jesus, she wanted to show her friends what she had done, so she was baptised.

Lydia wants to help Acts 16: 15 -16 Then she showed she was a real follower of Jesus by inviting Paul and his friends to stay at her house. She wanted to serve God by helping them. Talk with your wee one what they can do to help or be kind to someone at church.

Paul meets Lydia Extra activity for the adventurous! Experiment with various natural dyes Lydia was a seller of purple cloth. Flowers, berries, herbs, plants and even nuts can all be used to make various colors. A purple dye can be made using blackberries (rather than snail shells like in Lydia’s day). Wear rubber gloves not to stain your skin. Crush the various items to make a dye. Add drops of water as required and paint onto white fabric or allow to soak.
