Jeopardy Procedures/ Rules • 1. Work in the group you are assigned. • 2. When question is displayed every group must write answer on their whiteboard. • 3. The group that holds up their whiteboard first with the correct answer gets chosen. • 4. One random person in that group will be called on to explain the answer- so make sure every knows why that is the answer. – If your group gets it right you get the points and get to pick the next question! • 5. Most of the questions on this review are questions on your green review sheet- write correct answers as we go over them!

Types of Forces $200 The combination of all forces acting on an object is called what?

Types of Forces $400 8. What force describes how a skateboarder eventually comes to a stop?

Types of Forces $600 9. Which end of a magnet is repelled by the south pole of a magnet?

Types of Forces $800 10. What characteristics can you use to describe a force?

Types of Forces $1000 15. Complete the chart! Contact Forces Non-Contact Forces 1. 2. 3.

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces $200 What is the unit for measuring Force?

Balanced and Unbalanced Force $400 19. State the following using the image • Net Force: _______ • Balanced or Unbalanced Force: _____ • Object in Motion? Yes or No______ 5 N 20 N

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces $600 16. What is the difference between balanced and unbalanced force?

Balanced and unbalanced forces $800 You exert a force of 30 N on a chair & your friend comes to help and exerts a 25 N force. What is the net force acting on The chair?

Balanced and unbalanced Forces $1000 3. If a rope accelerates to the right during a game of tug a war, what is true about the force acting on the rope?

Newton’s Laws of Motion $200 4. What is Newton’s 2 nd law of motion? What are the 3 variables?

Newton’s Laws of Motion $400 5. If a force of 30 N is applied to a 15 kg rock what is the resulting acceleration?

Identify the type of reaction… $600 7. Describe action-reaction forces? What is true about them?

Newton’s Laws of Motion $800 13. According to Newton’s Third Law of Motion, what will happen to a boat if someone jumps forward off the boat?

Newton’s Laws of Motion $1000 14. You and your friend smash into each other playing bumper cars and you both move backwards after you hit. This is an example of what law? Explain.

Gravity $200 What are 2 factors that effect gravity?

Gravity $400 As the force of gravity decrease does the distance from this force increase or decrease?

Gravity $600 11. Why can a satellite move around the earth in a circular orbit at a constant height?

Gravity $800 17. The ball in the diagram is thrown up into the air and follows the path shown. What causes the ball to follow the path beyond point B?

Gravity $1000 6. Why is Earth’s gravity more than the Moon’s gravity?

Types of Forces $200 Net Force

Types of Forces $400 Friction- Resistance to Motion

Types of Forces $600 South Pole of the Magnet! Opposites attract, likes repel!

Types of Forces $800 Direction in which it acts Strength of the force

Types of Forces $1000 Contact Forces Non-Contact Forces 1. Applied Force 1. Gravitational Force 2. Normal Force 2. Electrical Force 3. Friction 3. Magnetic Force

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces $200 Newton (N)

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces $400 Net Force = 15 N Unbalanced Force Object in Motion

Balanced and Unbalanced Force $600 Balanced forces have 2 forces that are equal but act in opposite directions and unbalanced forces change in motion, acceleration, and direction.

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces $800 Net Force = 55 N (30 + 25)

Balanced and Unbalanced Forces $1000 The force on the right is greater than the force on the left. The forces are unbalanced.

Newton’s Laws of Motion $200 An objects acceleration depends on the mass and the force acting on it. Variables: mass, acceleration, force

Newton’s Laws of Motion $400 A = F/m 2 2 m/s

Identify the type of reaction… $600 For every action there is a reaction for example a rocket launching. Action and Reaction forces are equal but act in opposite directions.

Identify the type of reaction… $800 The boat will move backwards or in the opposite direction. Action = reaction.

Identify the type of reaction… $1000 Bumper cars are in motion, an outside forces stops the motion (Newton’s 1 st law) The cars move backwards because of Newton’s 3 rd law of motion- action = reaction.

Gravity $200 Mass and Distance

Gravity $400 Distance increases

Gravity $600 Gravity and inertia (keeps it moving)

Gravity $800 Gravity

Gravity $1000 Earth has a greater mass then Mars and Mars has a great mass than the moon. Therefore, earth has more gravity then mars and Mars has more gravity than the moon. Remember Gravity has to do with distance and mass!

Good Luck on your test!
