Career Technical Education (CTE) n Overview: This program is a sequenced program of study that integrates academic and career technical education curriculum, including workplace competencies, to engage students in contextual learning so that they are able to complete a career major sequence that prepares them for postsecondary study and employment.

OACE-CTE programs n The Career Technical Education (CTE) uses a systems approach to help students make the transition from school to post secondary education, careers and lifelong learning. CTE is the coordination and organization of a sequence of programs and learning activities so that students improve academic performance and are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for economic success in the real world.

OACE-CTE programs Work-Based Learning : Current and Future State Internships: Future A planned program of experiential learning activities that utilizes the community and workplaces as classrooms. The learning experiences include job shadowing, study tours, service learning, internships, career mentoring projects, studentrun enterprises, cooperative education, and apprenticeships that are integrated with schoolbased learning.

CTE Scorecard Goal Statement: To offer a rigorous and relevant course of study that sufficiently prepares our students to complete the CTE certificated programs as well as the ensuing state exams. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS (Performance standards are in draft form and have not been fully vetted by planning teams) Baseline 08 -09 1. 90% of students who pass the CNA course also pass the state exam. 98% 1. 90% of students in Administrative Assistant Level I will complete administrative assistant level I with an assessment rate of 80%. 95% 90% of students in Administrative Assistant Level II will complete administrative assistant level II with an assessment rate of 80%. 95% 90% of students enrolled in Medical Front Office will complete their coursework, pass the exam at a level 80% 90% of students enrolled in Medical Terminology will complete their coursework, pass the exam at a level 80%. 85% 1. 1. 90% of CTE students enrolled in CNA, AA, Medical Front Office and Medical Terminology will pass the 90%

OUSD Board Support n n In December 2008, the OUSD Board approved a 5 year CTE Perkins Plan. In April 2009, the OUSD Board approved the Connect. Ed consulting services contract for the design and implementation of Multiple Pathways Model.
