Open Access Environment § You will have access to the Open Access Environment this is available to you at any time. § The Remote Open Access resource will contain the same software that was available on the physical machines in the college. § The Remote Lab can be accessed from anywhere you have internet access. § There are two ways to get connected to Open Access Remotely. Access Options - HTML IT Services www. mycit. ie • Go to https: //vdesktop. citonline. ie/ and click on VMware Horizon HTML Access. • Choosing this option allows you to access your Remote Lab through a web browser. • You can also download and install the VMware Horizon Client. Use vdesktop. citonline. ie • Login with your student number and password.

Access Options - Client IT Services www. mycit. ie • You can also download and install the VMware Horizon Client. • The client install is advised if you are using Teams to collaborate with a lecturer such as a screen share of your lab machine. • Go to https: //vdesktop. citonline. ie/ and click on Install VMware Horizon Client. • Follow the steps to download and install the client. • Once installed, launch the client and add vdesktop. citonline. ie as the connection server • Login with your student number and password.

Drive (Cloud Storage) § H: Drive (Local File Server) Recommendations for saving your files while in the Remote Lab; § Best practice is to edit/save all files from H: Drive § Upload/Download files from cloud storage to H: Drive or Copy file to/from USB to H: Drive. This will give you access to all your files from your Remote Lab. § Due to the H: Drives limited storage (2 GB) its is important that you backup all files/course work to Cloud Storage. i. e. Google Drive, One. Drive. IT Services www. mycit. ie
