Literacy Poetry : The Owl and The Pussy Cat Over the next few weeks we are going to be exploring The Owl and the Pussy Cat. This week we are focusing on reading and remembering parts of the poetic tale.

Monday • Open the Owl and the Pussy Cat story Power. Point, or use

Monday • Open the Owl and the Pussy Cat story Power. Point, or use your own copy if you have one. • Share the rhyming story together – if you can, read it through together twice. • Talk about the characters in the story. • Can they remember anything that happened in the story. • What bit of the story did they like best? • The children can colour in the character sheet independently.

Tuesday • Talk about what you can remember from the poem yesterday – what

Tuesday • Talk about what you can remember from the poem yesterday – what happened to the characters? • Read The Owl and the Pussycat again. • Take a small part of the poem and see if you can learn it. • You can create little pictures to help you remember two or three words at a time. This is called Story Mapping. • Children can make the puppets to retell part of the poem.
