Math Teaching Point: I can use strategies to add three-digit numbers. • Word Problem of the Day • I can use strategies to add large numbers. • Mini-lesson: We will continue to learn about how to add three-digit and two-digit numbers. We are beginning by learning to apply the tic-tac-toe strategy to decompose. When we are ready, we will use the grid to add two three-digit numbers. • Task: Complete the handout on your own to practice using the tic-tac-toe strategy with no regrouping.

Reading • Good readers read a variety of genres and pay attention to the point of view of characters. • Mini-Lesson: Today, we will review the story, Seriously, Cinderella is So Annoying! Notice that this version of the story is told from the point of view of the wicked stepmother. • Task: Listen to the story, “Justin and Malek”, and let’s answer the questions about each character’s point of view together. Teaching Point: I can describe characters’ point of view.

Think O-R-E-O. • Mini-Lesson: Today you will finish up the graphic organizer to share your opinion about whether you prefer a sweet treat or salty snack. You may meet with a teacher as needed for support. • Task: When finished, complete the opinion boxes handout.

Grammar Teaching Point: I can identify adjectives. • Mini-Lesson: This week we are wrapping up our discussions of different parts of speech – nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Remember that adjectives are words that describe. Adjectives describe nouns. Let’s write some sentences together and practice adding adjectives. • Task: Complete the adjectives assessment and send it back to school.
