Let’s practice together. • Task: Complete the snowman craft to show a 3 -digit number written in different ways
Reading • Good readers identify theme of stories. We can identify the lesson, or moral, of a fable. • Mini-Lesson: Let’s continue to practice identifying the lesson, or moral, of fables. We will finish reading the book together, Fables from Around the World. • Task: As we read, let’s complete more pages in our fable booklets. Teaching Point: I can describe the moral of a fable.

Writing Teaching Point: I can write to support my opinion. • Good writers write to support their opinion about a topic. • When we write to support our opinion, we always include reasons and examples. • Mini-Lesson: Let’s think about the story we read on Tuesday, Hey Little Ant. What was the opinion of each character? What is your opinion on the following question: Should the ant be squished? Let’s look carefully at examples of excellent endings. • Task: Continue working on the flipbook to write your own opinion paragraph.
Phonics Vowels include a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y. Vowel sounds can be short or long. Long vowel sounds say their name. Some words with a long vowel sound end in a silent e. Other long vowel sounds are formed by vowel teams. Sometimes vowel teams make new sounds, called diphthongs. Let’s review the diphthong spelling patterns, “au” and “aw” by completing the cut and glue sort activity. Teaching Point: I can read and spell words with long vowel teams.
