Math Teaching Point: I can compare three-digit numbers. • Word Problem of the Day • I can compare three-digit numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to symbols. • Complete the 5 -minute fact fluency assessment. • Mini-lesson: One last skill that we practiced in quarter 3 was comparing numbers. Today, we will review with some practice problems. • Task: Complete the task cards on the document camera and write the symbols in the correct box on your recording sheet. Send it back to school.

Reading • Good readers read a variety of genres and find connections. • Mini-Lesson: Today, we will finish up reading one more version of the familiar story, Jack and the Beanstalk. As we read the book, The Giant and the Beanstalk, be thinking about ways the elements of the stories are the same and different. • Task: Complete the Venn diagram handout on your own and send it back to school. Teaching Point: I can compare and contrast versions of a story.

Independent Work Time • This week, Mrs. Hamel and Mrs. . White will be completing reading assessments with individual students. Your teachers will let you know on the day if you will need to stay for a short meeting. • Once the individual assessments are finished, Mrs. Hamel may pull you to meet in a reading group. • On the days that you do not meet with a teacher, you will work independently. • Read books from your house, your KC bag, or online through Epic. • Synonym cut and glue handout • Synonym coloring pages

Writing Teaching Point: I can write to support my opinion. • Good writers write to support their opinion. • I can write a paragraph in which I share my opinion and support it with reasons and examples. • Mini-Lesson: Today, we will finish writing our opinion paragraphs about our favorite season. • Task: Complete the final copy of your paragraph on the “Best Season” publishing paper provided. Add a picture and send it back to school.

Phonics Some words in English are not spelled how they sound. It is hard to decode these words. That is because they may have silent letter combinations. Some silent letter combinations we will study include: kn, wr, gn, mb, lf, mn, sc, and gh. Let’s look at some example words together. Teaching Point: I can read and spell words with silent letter combinations.
