Hello Year 1. Happy Friday! Today is Friday 22 nd May. We are going to be using containers to measure and sort capacity.

Challenge… True or false 1 litre is more than 100 centilitres. Give a reason for your answer.
Answer… FALSE! It is the same, because 100 cl (centiliters) = 1 litre.
Extra challenge… A jug holds 50 centiliters. How many jugs will be needed to fill a 200 centiliter container?
Answer = 4 50 cl + 50 cl = 200 cl or… 50 cl x 4 = 200 cl Four lots of 50 cl = 200 cl
Measuring Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Find 3 containers and fill with Fill different sized containers with water. Find a measuring jug. liquid labelled A, B and C. Which has the least? Which has the most? Use a measuring jug to read the amounts of liquid in each container. Use a measuring jug to check each amount. Can you Compare the capacities for each container. Write five different centilitrte amounts on cards. Ask your child to fill the measuring container with liquid to the amount marked on the card. Then order he amounts from smallest to largest. Challenge: If you add an extra 5 cl to each amount, what would the new total be?
