Math Teaching Point: I can use place value strategies to add to 100. • Number Talk • Word Problem of the Day • I can place value strategies to add. • Mini-lesson: Today we will review the different strategies for addition that we have learned. We will use the spinner on the screen to pick a strategy at random to use to solve problems on our white boards. We will also complete one problem together using each of the strategies. • Task: Use each strategy to solve another problem on your own.
Reading Teaching Point: I can identify the author’s points and reasons in a text. • Good readers identify points made by an author in texts and find supporting reasons that the author gives as well. • Mini-Lesson: We will use what we have learned about main topics and key details to figure out what the author is saying in a text. We will also learn about how to find supporting reasons in practice passages. • Task: Try one! Can you underline the author’s point in the passage?

We will be working on a nonfiction chapter book this quarter where we will collect our writing. • Task: Write your informational paragraph about vampire bats.
