Adjektivendungen Wiederholen!

Still having trouble with Adjektivendungen? Think of these four questions: 1. 2. 3. 4. Does the adjective have an article in front of it? Is the article in the standard, unchanged form? Is the noun singular? Does the article show gender?

Does the adjective have an article in front of it? • If NO – Add the ending that would occur on a der-word for that noun. Deutsches Essen schmeckt gut. Ich trinke kalten Kaffee gern. • If YES – Move to the next question.

Is the article in the standard, unchanged form? The article is the same form as it would be in nominative case. (Ein Buch is interessant. Ich lese ein Buch) • If NO – Add – en Ich kenne einen netten Mann. Ich spreche mit der alten Frau. • If YES – Move to the next question.

Is the noun singular? • If NO – Add – en if the noun is plural. Ich sehe die jungen Kinder. Keine schönen Blumen waren da. • If YES – Move to the next question.

Does the article show gender? Pretty much all articles show gender except for “ein” and the equivalent. (den Mann, dem Mann, einem Buch, die Frau, der Frau usw. ) • If NO – Add – er for masuline nouns, -es for neuter nouns Das ist ein gutes Buch.
