Good Morning Everyone! Welcome to the start of another week! Complete your daily exercise to wake you up. It can be Joe Wicks, Cosmic Yoga or even a run. Miss Jones has been going for a morning run and it makes her feel better! Enjoy whatever you choose!
SPa. G Singular and Plural: Singular = one noun Plural = more than one Depending on if the noun is singular or plural, the spelling changes. E. g. lady = singular Ladies = plural
There are different rules! Sometimes, you add an s, sometimes you add ies and sometimes es. However, there are times when the word doesn’t change too! (it’s tricky!) If a word ends in a y, knock of the y add i e s Berry = berries If a word ends in a consonant, add s Laptop = laptops Sometimes he word changes! Man = men
Write the singular and plural words for these pictures. Change them to how you think they should be spelt!
MATHS: Turn to your Home Learning pack you received! There is also a copy on the website.
Multiples of 100 A multiple = your times tables! E. g. 100 200 300 400 are all multiples of 100. They are in the 100 times tables. 5 x 100 = 500 So 500 is a multiple of 100. When adding or subtracting 100 s, it’s very important to change the correct digits.
145 + 100 Here, I am not adding on any ones or tens, so 45 will stay the same! I simply just add 100 and 100! 45 + 00 = 45 100 + 100 = 200 + 45 = 245
Practise: You do not need to use a written method for this. You should just be using your head! 123 + 100 = 345 + 200 = 407 + 400 =
Watch out! If your hundreds make more that 900, then they become thousands! Have a go: 429 + 600 = 514 + 700 = 687 + 600 =
Adding and Subtracting Multiples of 100. Have a go at completing a couple of pages on adding and subtracting multiples of 100. With subtraction, your answer needs to be smaller as you are taking and amount away! There are lots of pages so you can continue this throughout the week alongside other maths learning!
Poetry: We are going to have a look at some different poems this week! First of all, we are going to start with something called an Acrostic Poem! I love writing these poems as they are super easy and you can write about anything you like!
Perfectly pretty Emperors are the biggest Nests to protect their eggs Gathers to keep warm Usually they are in groups Icebergs all around No such thing as a flying penguin Strong swimmers!
Did you notice that the title of my poem goes vertically down the side? And that each line in my poem begins with a letter from the title? That’s it! That is an acrostic poem!
Have a practise by finishing off my poem: Cats make a purring sound A T S
Your turn: Write an acrostic poem based on anything you like. For example, you could choose your favourite animal, the weather, your favourite place, your home, your name, pet, or even a feeling/ emotion on how you are feeling during this crazy time! Poetry is a really good way of showing emotions, so you could have a go that way. The choice is yours! Some words to inspire and help you: Isolation We shall look forward to reading World your poems! You can type these House up on word if you like and then Rainbow email them! May be easier than Stay Home taking a photo - You decide, we do Beach not mind!
Just for fun! Here is the famous author Michael Rosen, reading a funny poem called chocolate cake. Look at his facial expressions! https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=7 Bx. QL ITd. OOc
