Equality and Solidarity @ ACAL • Defining the Terms – Equality is the situation when everyone is equal and has the same opportunities, rights and etc. – Solidarity means the agreement and support between people in a group who have similar aims or beliefs.

We believe that all humans are equal.

WE ARE EQUAL BUT UNIQUE AT THE SAME TIME.

What is Equality and Diversity? • Equality and diversity, or multiculturalism, is the idea of promoting and accepting the differences between people. Therefore, at school we try to ensure that everybody is treated fairly and equally no matter their race, gender, age , disability, religion or socioeconomic status. • Considering diversity, we promote and respect these differences to create an all-inclusive atmosphere. • In terms of solidarity, we establish sympathy between our teachers and students.

Equality and Solidarity @ ACAL • Aspects of E&S – Gender : We have both male and female students. They wear the same school uniform. They follow the same curriculum. Our themes are multicultural. – Social Status: They come from different socioeconomic status. – Culture : They come from different cultural backgrounds. – Age and etc. : Our students are aged from 14 to 18.

Brunches&lunches @ ACAL Every year we welcome our nine gradersnewcomers- by organising lunches or brunches which are special and unforgetable for them. They get together and chat. Through these occasions they can socialize and make friends.

SCHOOL TRIPS @ ACAL During the school year we organize school trips to museums, universities, cultural cites and summer resorts. Teens like travelling and learning new things. By the help of trips they develop respect and solidarity as a large group. Every student can join these trips.

Sports events @ ACAL Sport events and competitions are also another way to establish solidarity at our school. Our school teams consist of students from different grades. After school they come together and train a lot. As a result, we usually win and get medals. At the end , we are proud of our players and they are able to attain their goals.

Annual graduation @ ACAL At the end of the school year we celebrate twelfth grades’ graduation with great joy. Their families are also invited to the ceremony. This is sharing happiness and achievement.

National days&Celebrations @ ACAL In Turkey national days like Youth Day, Victory Day and Republic Day are really important for us. In addition, we organize “Lokma” Day every year in May. On these days we dance , sing songs and enjoy.
