History • In 1895 the Latvian Union of Decorative Painters established the Decorative Painters

History • In 1895 the Latvian Union of Decorative Painters established the Decorative Painters School. • 1928 – 1944 the school’s title was “Vocational School of Latvia’s Decorative Painter Trade Promotion and Assistance Society. ” • 1944 - 1946 - Riga Art Highschool; On March 18, 1946, the school was named after Janis Rozentals, a prominent Latvian painter (1866 – 1916). The school’s full title was: Janis Rozentals Riga Art Highschool

Janis Rozentals Riga Art High-school Two programs: Visual art and Visual Communications Art 4 years, i. e. secondary school grades 10, 11, 12 + 1 extra year 134 students, aged 16 – 20 Enrollment is by entrance exams 36 students in each grade 16 art teachers (full time), 7 (part time) 6 full time general subjects teachers, 7 part time teachers
