Today , we will explore the African Sahara. We will discover how different species in this ecosystem interact with one another. LETS HEAD TO AFRICA!

All food chains start with the sun. The sun is the source of energy for plants.

Producers get their energy by making their own food. Grass is a producer

Grass, as well as trees, are producers. They make their own food through a process called photosynthesis.

Herbivores are consumers that only eat plants. The Zebra is a herbivore that lives in the African savanna.

Carnivores eat other consumers. A lion is carnivore so it will only eat meat.

Animals, like worms and vultures, are decomposers. Decomposers consume dead animals and return raw material back into the environment.

A food chain shows one possible energy flow from one species to the next. There are no alternative routes. It's very clear who gets energy from who. The arrow means energy moves from one organism to the next.
