Hawk Roosting L/O – to explore meaning, language and structure Hughes – context Hawk Roosting is from the poems of the 1960 s and was considered controversial as the symbol of a hawk on top of the world was linked to fascism with the Nazi symbol being an eagle standing on top of the wreath. What is fascism? A hawk is a bird of prey – it hunts and kills for food and survival. Hughes was hugely influenced by nature.
