 • PSAT College Entrance Exams – Prepares students for the SAT – It

• PSAT College Entrance Exams – Prepares students for the SAT – It covers reading, writing/language, and math. – Historically administered to all DCPS students in 9 th to 11 th grades in school in the Fall. • Unable to due to COVID-19 – Should health conditions allow this Spring, DCPS will offer the PSAT to 9 th and 10 th graders • PSAT/NMSQT – College Board has extended qualification window this school year to include a January 2021 testing date to accommodate for COVID-19 health and safety considerations. – DCPS is currently exploring whether administering the PSAT/NMSQT this Winter will be a safe option for us. We will follow up with our 11 th Grade families when a decision is made. 3

College Entrance Exams • SAT – Standardized test used for college admissions • Learn about Test Optional – Will be offered in Spring for 11 th graders if safe to do so. • Subject Exams – College admission exams on specific subjects that you choose showcase students strengths and interests. • Required for admissions by some colleges • Do your research, those same colleges may have applied test optional policies on subject tests or may have removed those requirements as a result of COVID-19. – Not offered as part of DCPS SAT Day 4

Story 2 • An essay-writing software ALL DCPS students and educators (12 th English teachers at all High Schools) • Story 2 teaches students how to write powerful college essays that connect with admissions officers. 5

Dual Enrollment Dual Enrollment- High school students apply and enroll in an area college

Dual Enrollment Dual Enrollment- High school students apply and enroll in an area college and take college-level classes while still in High School. Dual Credit- High school students earn both high school and college credit (simultaneously) for passing the same credit- bearing course. - E. g. Student enrolls in a University English Composition class that also meets a H. S. English graduation requirement. Student will receive both college and high school credit for the course. Grade appears on college and high school transcripts. 6
