MRS. CRONK’S EXPECTATIONS • Use your time in and out of class wisely. • Give everything your BEST effort. • Always be prepared. • Respect yourself and others.
MRS. CRONK’S MISSION • It is the mission of all of Mrs. Cronk’s English 2 classes to exhibit excellence in work produced and effort given with the ever-present thought of the future significance of these actions.
SUPPLIES – Folder or binder DEDICATED to English – Pens (blue or black) and pencils – Highlighter(s) (or colored pencils or markers) – Loose paper – Book to read everyday for silent reading
CELL PHONES/ELECTRONICS • Bags & purses are to be left at the front of the room • Phones in bags silent or off • Extenuating circumstance = see me before class
CELL PHONE CONSEQUENCES • 1 st time – kept until the end of class & parent(s)/guardian(s) contacted • 2 nd time – kept until the end of the school day & parent(s)/guardian(s) contacted • 3 rd time and after – sent to the office and a referral issued
TARDIES • Be in the room by the time the bell rings. • Sign the tardy book (even if you have a pass from another teacher) REMEMBER – Four tardies equals a lost exemption AND a lunch d-hall
LEAVING CLASS & FOOD IN CLASS • Students are not allowed to leave during the first 10 minutes of class. • If you leave under false pretenses (e. g. ask to go to bathroom and return with snacks), you receive a referral to the AP. • Food is NOT ALLOWED in class. – 1 st time – Food will be taken and thrown away. – 2 nd time and after – Food will be taken, thrown away, and a referral will be
HOMEWORK & CLASSWORK • Turned in to Mrs. Cronk • Late work = - 10 pts. per day up to 5 days • Any major assignments turned in over 3 days late has no chance of “retest” • No name on paper = -10 points
CLASSWORK & MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS • Turned in to Mrs. Cronk • No late DAILY work (40%) accepted! • Major assignments (60%) turned in 1 day late begin at an 80. Any major assignments turned in 2 or more days late is an automatic 50 with no chance of “retest” • No name on paper = -10 points
RETEST POLICY Progress reports are given on Monday. All retesting must be completed by Friday. Multiple choice tests • All students may retest. • For each wrong answer, students must explain their new answer choice using text evidence to support. Essays • Only essays scoring a 4 or lower are valid for “retesting”. • Students must come in before or after school for debriefing on original essay.
ABSENCES • FIRST Check the appropriate crate in the back of the room (red = Pre-AP, black = on-level) • If nothing is in the crate, ask Mrs. Cronk • Double check your weekly progress report – “Z” on progress report = absent assignment – Deadline to turn in is Friday the week of progress report
EXTRA CREDIT • There will be RARE opportunities for extra credit. • There will NOT be any extra credit opportunities the last week of the six weeks or trimester.
