Aims Students will be able toa. Introduce with simple , compound & complex b. Identify different kinds of sentence.
How kinds of sentences are there according to pattern ?
There are three kinds of sentences according to pattern. They are a. Simple sentence b. Compound sentence c. Complex sentence
Look at the picture
1. How is Modhu Tila ? Ans. Modhutila is a very nice place. 2. Where is it situated ? Ans. it is situated at Nalitabary.
So Modhutila is a very nice place. it is situated at Nalitabary. These kinds of sentences are simple sentence
Defination : The sentence which has one subject and a finite verb is called simple sentence. Structure : Subject + verb + ext. Exam : I live in Bangladesh
Now look at the sentence �A. Modhutila is a place and it is nice. �B. He is poor but honest �C. Read or fail
These kinds of sentences are called compound sentence. Defination : The sentence which has two coordinate clauses and combined with and /or/ but is called compound sentence. Structure : Subject + verb + complement + and / or /but + Subject + verb + complement
Look at the sentences below. a. Though the man is poor, he is honest. c. I know the boy who came here yesterday. b. I work hard so that I can succeed in life.
a. How many clauses are there in each sentence ? b. How is it consisted ?
The sentence which has a principal clause and a subordinate clause and it consists with though / although/ as / since/that / so that/if / unless/ who /which etc Is called complex sentence. Structure : Subject + principal verb + complement + conjunction + subordinate clause. Exam : As she was ill, she could not go to college.
Now identify and name the sentences of the following
a. An honest man is always respected by all. b. I don’t know the man who came here yesterday. c. Bangladesh is a small country but it has large population. d. Ill news runs fast e. Move or die f. The sky is so cloudy that we can not go out for work.
