The exchange of things can be anything – political or psychological. The parties concerned are conscious of the power resources and attitudes of the other. The purpose stands within the bargaining process and the relationship does not go beyond this. The goods that are exchanged are specific, tangible and calculable. Their relationship lasts only till needs of both leader and follower are satisfied.
