Math Teaching Point: I can use strategies to add three-digit numbers. • Word Problem of the Day • I can use strategies to add large numbers. • Task: Complete the multiple addend assessment. • Mini-lesson: Today we will begin learning about how to add numbers within 1, 000. We will use some of the same strategies that we have used all year. We can decompose numbers to add, and we can set it up in a tic-tac-toe chart. Let’s practice some problems together using our white boards and no regrouping.

Reading Teaching Point: I can compare and contrast versions of a story. • Good readers read a variety of genres and find connections. • Mini-Lesson: Today, we will continue reviewing how we can find connections between versions of a story as we compare and contrast. The next story that we will read is called, Seriously, Cinderella is So Annoying! Let’s see if we can find connections between this story and the original Cinderella. • Task: Fill in your Venn diagram as we discuss together.

Writing Teaching Point: I can write to support my opinion. • Good writers write to support their opinion about a topic. • When we write to support our opinion, we always include reasons and examples. Think O-R-E-O. • Mini-Lesson: This week’s writing prompt is, “Would you rather eat a sweet treat or a salty snack? ” The next step that we will complete today is writing reasons and examples. What details can you add to your paragraph? • Task: Continue working on the graphic organizer.

Grammar Teaching Point: I can identify adjectives. • Mini-Lesson: This week we are wrapping up our discussions of different parts of speech – nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Remember that adjectives are words that describe. Adjectives describe nouns. • Task: Let’s finish filling in the blanks of the “Awesome Adjectives” booklet together.

Social Studies • Mini-Lesson: Jackie Robinson was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement who worked hard to end segregation in Major League Baseball. Today, we are going to view and complete a timeline of the important events in his life. Teaching Point: I can describe the life and contributions of Jackie Robinson.
