Information ▪ We visited an organic farm and one ordinary farm ▪ Välinen organic farm and Arvolan Karjapiha ▪ In an organic farm the products are organic so they don't use chemical fertilizers ▪ On average organic fields have from 30% to 50 % less nitrogen than conventional fields ▪ In Vaala we have 5 organic farms

Arvolan Karjapiha Oy An ordinary farm • Entrepreneurs: Jukka and Minna Määttä • Products: milk and fodder • They have rotation of crops for grass and barley (SDG 7, SDG 13)

• Cultivated species are alterned for the best fertilization -> increase organic material (SDG 13) • Wastewater is collected and put into the field. (SDG 13) • Use limestone for modifying the Ph (SDG 13) • Every five years, they analyze soil to seeding (SDG 13) • Don´t always need to use a big tractor, manure is spread by pipes. (SDG 7, SDG 13) • They use diesel fuel in their tractors. (SDG 7, SDG 13)

They use geothermal energy. (SDG 7) Wastewater is collected and used as a fertilizer. (SDG 13)
