How to’s… 1. Begin with the border (vocabulary or small pictures) 2. Add the unit number and title 3. Draw two pictures (models, concepts, etc. ) 4. Create a word chain around each picture describing the picture 5. Write a poem or include an acrostic from the unit 6. Create two questions with their answers 7. Describe a connection to the real world 8. Add color for interest

Instructions & Rubric I have found that it works best to only give my students the instruction page. Otherwise, they will use the rubric as a checklist and they will not read the instructions.

Challenge your students • …they will surprise you. • For Unit 5, I required the poem/acrostic to be about the von Thünen Model. • For Unit 6, I had the students compare either two geographers or two models. • For Unit 7, I had the students draw one of the urban models. Their description was to explain the model’s design; why it was drawn the way it was.
