Coaching Styles • The style each coach employs is generally a reflection of their personality. A coach may take on many different roles and how those jobs are carried out may determine a coaches ultimate success. A coaches style will have a direct influence on an athlete and how they perform. • A successful coach is able to adapt their style to suit the age and expertise of those under their guidance.

Authoritarian Coach • • A command coach Strict, disciplined Punishes Frequently Good team spirit when winning, negative when losing • Personality to handle being ‘hated’ in order to gain respect.

Business-Like Coach • • • Not people oriented Keen on seeing job is done Expects 100 % all the time

Nice Guy Coach • Players sometimes take advantage of coaches personable , cooperative nature. • Gets on well with athletes of similar temperament who are already likely to be self- disciplined.
