Election - Roles The Skills Network Group will meet quarterly across the Humber region

Election - Roles The Skills Network Group will meet quarterly across the Humber region and will be chaired by an elected member of the group. • • Chair Vice-Chair Current role terms conclude end February 2015; office to run for a period of three years to mirror LEP Board appointments

Chair - Role The Chair’s role is to provide leadership of group, including coordination

Chair - Role The Chair’s role is to provide leadership of group, including coordination and support of Humber LEP Employment and Skills activities. The successful candidate is likely to have recent relevant experience in skills related issues along with managerial and organisational qualities. • To chair meetings of the Skills Network quarterly meetings and/or events • To ensure that there is effective communication across all relevant partners and that the Humber LEP’s ESB is kept up-to-date with skills developments • To contribute to and set the agenda for each meeting in conjunction with the Humber LEP secretariat • To ensure the effective operation of the Network New Board developments have indicated that the Chair will be invited to sit on the Employment and Skills Board (monthly commitment) Additional attendance at skills meetings may be required, working with the ESB Chair and Secretariat

Vice Chair - Role The Vice-Chair’s role is to support the Chair appointment: • To chair meetings of the Skills Network in the absence of the Chair • To deputise for the Chair at meetings and events • Alongside the Chair, ensure that there is effective communication across all partners and that the Humber LEP’s ESB is kept up-to-date with skills development • To contribute to and set the agenda for each meeting in conjunction with the Chair and Humber LEP secretariat • To ensure the effective operation of the Skills Network in conjunction with the Chair

Process of Appointments • • Nominations for Chair and Vice Chair roles: email nominations

Process of Appointments • • Nominations for Chair and Vice Chair roles: email nominations are accepted between Monday 26 th January to Friday 20 th February (four week window). Nominations /self nominations will require the name of the proposer and the person who is seconding the suggestion. Emails should be sent to the LEP, marked ‘Skills Network Chair and Vice Chair - sensitive’ c/o Peter Harrison p. harrison@humberlep. org. It is expected that nominees are able and willing to consider the role A panel will be appointed by ESB to consider and meet with nominated individuals A short list of names will be agreed with the ESB on the 19 th March Informal discussions with a nominated ESB panel will be held week commencing 23 rd March. Candidates will be informed of discussion outcomes week commencing 30 th March Roles begin 1 st April 2015 and run for a three year period LEP inductions will be organised to support the successful candidates Previous post holders are able to be nominated

Terms of Reference The purpose of the Humber LEP Skills Network is to support the work of the Humber LEP Employment and Skills Board (ESB) Key priorities The Network will: • Support the work of the Humber LEP by assisting the ESB leadership • Bring together the key agencies, stakeholders and delivery partners in the Humber to work together in partnership. • Provide feedback on skill issues, particularly in those key sectors in which the Humber has added value strengths • Ensure that high quality labour market information is produced and disseminated. • Help to inform a strategic approach to careers education, information advice and guidance (CEIAG), • Ensure that the Network operates within the Humber LEP’s governance structure.
