The Proposal • “Let us go into the house of the Lord. • Did Not Say: – It is your duty to go – We will send you! – We will give temporal gifts! • They were: – Gentle & Persuasive – “Let us go. . ” Romans 14: 13, 19; Galatians 6: 10; Hebrews 6: 1; 10: 22 -24
• Not: The Reaction – “I was offended when they said let us go into the house of the Lord. ” – “Nice of you to ask, but I …. excuse after excuse…. ” • Did Say: – “I was glad when they said to me, let us go into the house of the Lord. ”
What is it that generates Gladness in Your Heart? • • Promotion at Work? New Car? New House? The things that gladden our hearts reveal the kind of people we are!
What is it that generates Gladness in Your Heart? What Kind of a Person are YOU? • Is YOUR HEART GLADDENED at the Prospect of “going to the house of the Lord? ”
What is it that generates Gladness in Your Heart? What Kind of a Person are YOU? • Is it merely a BOTHER you have to put up with? • A DRUDGERY you have to complete?
Need More People who say: “Let us go into the house of the Lord. ” Hebrews 10: 24 -26 Not a THING {assembly}, an ACTION {assembling} Benefits derived from assembling – stir up love & good works “Go on sinning willfully” No more sacrifice we can expect!
“Willful Sin” directly linked to the WAY one reacts to the Proposal: “Let us go into the house of the Lord. ” James 4: 17 Know to do good – as derived from assembling with others in the House of God. Choose not to do it – we Sin!
Real Problem is with ATTITUDES All of God’s people be heard to say: I am Glad when they say to me, Come, Let Us Go into the House of the Lord!”
