POST SCRIMMAGE KICK ENFORCEMENT PSK Can occur on a punt or unsuccessful field goal Allows Receiving team to retain ball after committing a foul under certain conditions :
QUESTION : What are the four requirements that you must have in order to have PSK ?
1 The ball must cross the expanded neutral zone on kick ( beyond two yards )
2 The foul is on the Receiving team and the penalty on the Receiving team must be beyond the expanded neutral zone
3 The foul on the Receiving team must take place from the snap until Receiving team has possession
4 At the end of the play the Receiving team MUST have possession
IF ALL FOUR CRITERIA ARE MET THE RECEIVING TEAM MAINTAINS THE BALL AND THE ALL BUT ONE PRINCIPLE IS USED.
If the foul on the Receiving team is ( IN FRONT OF WHERE THE KICK ENDED AND BEANBAG IS ) which is the end of the kick we use the bean bag the BJ threw to signal the end of the kick to enforce the foul. WE TAKE THE PENALTY FROM THE BEAN BAG , THATS WHY BJ MUST BEAN BAG END OF ALL SCRIMMAGE KICKS.
If the foul on the Receiving team is BEHIND the end of the kick or bean bag, we use the spot of the foul.
WHAT IF R AND K BOTH FOUL ON A SCRIMMAGE KICK ? If there is a Receiving team( PSK ) foul and a Kicking team foul on a scrimmage kick then R can decline K's foul to retain the ball and the R foul is enforced OR , or they can offset, go back to the previous spot ( LOOSE BALL FOUL = PREVIOUS SPOT ) and replay the down.
The Receiving team can elect to repeat the down. . LOOSE BALL FOULS ARE PREVIOUS SPOT REPLAY THE DOWN
