Return to Learn Protocol n n n New policy implemented by U 46 for students that have sustained a physician documented concussion. Protocol is divided into 4 stages of recovery. 1. Complete rest-time depends on symptoms 2. Return to school-Half-day school attendance-could continue for 1 -2 weeks 3. Full day of school attendance-still no practice or PE 4. Full academic and athletic/physical activity participation-Full release by primary care physician

IHSA DRUG TESTING POLICY Required Signature on Athletic Permit n Random Drug testing throughout the school year. n – 15 individuals selected – Test administered during any season. n 2015 -2016 - Test occurred during fall season at state tournaments.

Student/Athlete Expectations n n Academics First Eligibility – Eligibility is checked every week during season. – Must be passing 5 classes. Fall eligibility is based on Spring grades. If you did not pass 5 classes in the spring, ineligible for fall sports. – Interventions offered include study hall after school starting this fall.

LARKIN HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE PROGRAM n n LOP list-Once this is posted it is applied for following week-no changes-mirrors academic eligibility policy Tardies- 14 Periods of tardies (Step 5) results in a Loss of Extra Curricular Activities. -To roll back must have perfect attendance for 10 straight school days Truancies- 9 Periods of Truancy (Step 3) results in a Loss of Extra Curricular Activities. The main point-If you cannot make it to class, then sports will take a back seat until you show up to class on-time.

Parent Expectations n n n Be involved & support LHS and their programs Demonstrate a positive attitude. – Display good Sportsmanship-Set a good example Stress academics, teach your son/daughter how to manage their time every day. Follow chain of command-Empower your son/daughter to speak with the coach first about how to get on the field more often. Scheme questions-Trust the coach as a professional and do not question plays, defense, etc….
