Lesson English Grammar Class-Ten

Read these sentences in the passage : Maruf and Hasib are two brothers. Mitu is younger than Setu. Their father who works as a teacher is a simple man. Both Maruf and Hasib read in the same school. They are more attentive to studies than other students of the class. Their father wants them to become good and prosper in life. He hopes that they will bring glory to the country. He is sure that they will succeed. These red colored words are connectors or linking words.

Lesson declaration So today we shall discuss about connector or linking words.

Learning outcomes By the end of the lesson the students will have: 1. Learnt what linking words mean. 2. Learnt the uses of linking words.

Let us know about linking words. Link’ means to make a connection between two words , phrases or two clauses. A linking word works as a conjunction to join two or more words, phrases and clauses together.

There are some linking words here: However, Nevertheless, Indeeds, At first, Firetly, First, In the first place, Secondly, Third, thirdly, At last At the end, Finally.
