General Glance Los estudiantes de Español I-II tendran la oportunidad de aprender las bases de un nuevo lenguaje como alternativa de electiva, considerando que vivimos en un estado donde se interactua diariamente con este idioma. • Spanish I-II students have the opportunity to learn the basics of a new language as an elective class, allowing the student to interact with the language on a daily basis.

What do we do in class? • Cada día, cuando los estudiantes llegan al salon de clases, ven en el tablero blanco “la agenda del día”, donde se describe brevemente lo que se trabajara ese día. • La clase inicia con un ejercico de calentamiento “Bellwork” para el cual se disponen aproximadamente 10 minutos, después de tomar la asistencia. • Luego de revisar y corregir el Bellwork se inicia la clase regular, ya sea con un tema nuevo o como continuacion de un tema en el cual se este trabajando. • Despues tratamos de hacer un ejercicio de practica para afianzar lo aprendido durante la clase. • Every day, when students arrive to the classroom, they will find the “agenda for the day” written on the white board is where we briefly describe what is being worked on that day. • Class begins with the "Bellwork" as soon as they enter the room and most times it takes up to approximately 10 minutes, after taking attendence. • We always review and correct the Bellwork. Following that we then begin our class with either a new topic or we continue with the previous topic from the day before for the remaining part of the class. • Our goal is to always incorporate a practice exercise to reinforce what we learned during class.

How do the students process the information? • Los nuevos temas se presentan SIEMPRE atraves de un power point con imagenes alucivas al tema del cual se esta hablando. • Los estudiantes deben tomar nota en su cuaderno de espiral, adicionalmente se les entrega material impreso para pegar en sus cuadernos que les sirvan de guia de estudio en un futuro. • Los estudiantes deben trabajar en clase proyectos adicionales, ya que no se envia tarea para la casa, TODO el trabajo debe ser realizado en clase y para ayudarles en su procesamiento de la informacion se les da una cuadricula guía. • Topics are ALWAYS presented with a Power. Point presentation with alucive images towards the subject matter. • Students must take notes in their spiral notebook, additionally they are given printed material to stick in their notebooks which will serve as a study guide. • Homework is not given in class therefore students must work on ALL projects in class. For additional helps the students are given a guide to help them process the information they are given.

Exam and Quizzes • El examen final del año será en español, por lo que en la medida de lo posible tratare de hacer los examenes en español para que ellos se familiarizen con el formato. • The final exam of the year will be in Spanish, therefore quizzes and tests will be in Spanish allowing them plenty of opportunities to become familiar with this format before the final at the end of the year. • Para los examenes mas importantes se les dara previo aviso para que tengan la oportunidad de estudiar. • Students will always be notified prior to any exam giving them the opportunity to study. • Habra quizes programados y tambien uno que otro quiz sorpresa. • There will be quizzes and also a couple of pop quizzes as well.

Our Goal • Nuesta meta como profesoras SIEMPRE será trarar de que los estudiantes aprendan; Lo que supone un esfuerzo mutuo entre profesor y estudiante, ya que es otro idioma , lo que representa un gran desafío para ellos. • Esto significa …. . que los estudiantes deben TRABAJAR mucho para lograrlo; con su trabajo y nuestro apoyo, esperamos lograr nuestro objetivo. • As Spanish teachers our goal is to ALWAYS make sure that each student learns the language to the best of their ability. This is a goal that needs to be accomplished together - a mutual effort between teacher and student - since learning a new language can be a challenge. • This means…. that the students must WORK a lot to achieve it; with your work and our support, we hope to achieve our goal together.
