1 John Series 1 John 5: 6 Victory by Water and Blood

Satan tries to prevent our victory. 2 Cor 4: 3 -4; Luke 8: 5, 12

At salvation we are, Col 1: 13, “Rescued from the domain of darkness, and transferred into the kingdom of His beloved Son”. Acts 26: 18

Initial positional victory does not guarantee experiential victories, but it does make it possible when we are obedient to God’s mandates.

HO ERCHOMAI “who came”, The Constative Aorist contemplates the First Advent and Incarnation in its entirety. The preexistent Son of God sent from heaven to do God’s will.

"By water and blood" Answers the question, "How did this One come? " The full view of our Lord's obedient sacrificial work.

IESOUS - YEHOSHUA = “The Lord (YEHOVAH) is salvation”, YHVH.

CHRISTOS means "the Anointed One, Messiah, Christ".

1 John 5: 6 a, "Jesus Christ is the one who came by water and by blood. " The person and work of the God / Man, Jesus Christ.

Water and Blood: A. The Blood represents the cross, the place of sacrifice that won the strategic victory of the Angelic Conflict giving us our victory once and for all time.

Some say its the communion service. But it is never referenced as just the Blood in Scripture. Usually - flesh and blood.

Jewish Com. of the N. T. , “The blood, which is shorthand for Yeshua's death, Rom 3: 25, witnesses that He is the Son of God, Rom 5: 9 -11”.

B. The Water: 1. Water baptism. They say the water indicates our Lord's symbolic spiritual birth at His baptism by John. Mark 1: 9 -11

A. T. Robertson, as "proof" of the incarnation which previously occurred. Mat 3: 17

Mat 3: 17, “And behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. ””

2. His physical birth, being born in humanity by the Virgin Mary.

This would fit John's discussion refuting the Docetic Gnostic belief that Jesus was not really true humanity and that the cross was just an illusion.

3. Blood and Water of Jesus’ side when He was pierced by a spear. John 19: 34 Humanity and Victory!

4. Symbolically Obedience and Sacrifice. Obedient to the Father's Plan, and Propitiatory Sacrifice.

Rev 12: 11, “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of (obedience to) the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. ” (Italic mine. )

5. The Tabernacle. The Brazen Laver and Brazen Altar. The removal of our sins through His sacrifice.

It was not enough to just become a man (water), He also had to suffer and die (blood).

He won the strategic victory of the Angelic Conflict in Hypostatic Union. Rev 1: 5; 5: 9; 7: 14

It's not just X that gives you victory, but X+Y (humanity + sacrifice) = VICTORY

1 Cor 15: 57, “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. ”

Rom 8: 37, “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. ”

The first victory is given so nd that we can achieve the 2. Rom 6: 3 -13
