Process The responsibility for the instructional materials review/adoption curriculum committee is that they will thoroughly review standards and decide the best series based off our district needs. All decisions will be made by team consensus. What work will the committee focus on? ● Review content standards ● Identify current needs ● Investigate and understand research and best practice about content area. ● Identify instructional materials to match District needs and that are consistent with recommendations from research. ● Participate in the implementation and monitoring of new resources/materials. ● Communicate the work of the committee with their stakeholder groups.

Reading strategies support comprehension of specific texts and the focus on building knowledge and insight and tasks require the use of textual evidence, including supporting valid inferences from the text Materials focus on academic vocabulary prevalent in complex texts throughout reading, & writing, listening, and speaking instruction Provides performance based writing tasks and different modes of writing and grammar and language conventions embedded within reading selections Automated essay scoring for students to get automatic feedback with 6 traits of writing before submitted to teacher and plagiarism checker

Funding for the curriculum ● The funding is coming from M/O for 7 -8

Funding for the curriculum ● The funding is coming from M/O for 7 -8 with additional monies being used from the CARES funding that was awarded to the district to help with COVID-19. The funding from CARES would qualify as acceptable use so that students have access to online materials. ● Amount for the purchase for 7 -12 materials for 6 years $187, 781. 55 ● If the governing board approves the purchase on June 23, 2020 then we will move forward with purchasing the curriculum at that time. Pearson is working together with us to allow access to the teachers as we take steps forward.
