Graduation Requirements • 4 English • 4 Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, one additional math) • 3 Science (including Biology and Chemistry) • 4 Soc. Studies (W. History, Gov't, US History, Econ/Personal Finance) • 2 PE (PE and Wellness) • 2 Foreign Language ( If no foreign language a 2 nd Elective Focus) • 3 Elective Focus • 6 Electives • 28 Total credits to graduate

Things to keep in mind as a rising Freshman. . . If you have questions, ASK! Each year of high school you will be required to take English, Math & Social Studies Only 3 science credits are required, but can take more! Typical Freshman schedule: English, Math, World History, Science, PE, Lifetime Wellness, Elective. If you plan to drop or add a teacher recommended course, the first step is filling out a form from the counseling office. This form is due back May 1 st!! What a 9 th Grade Schedule Looks Like: Year Long Algebra 1 A & 1 B Recommendation Period 05 Advisory is our homeroom. This student was recommended for year long Algebra. You can see they have 1 st semester, 3 rd period Algebra 1 A & second semester 3 rd period Algebra 1 B. We try to balance schedules with core academic classes and electives both semesters.

What a 9 th Grade Schedule Looks Like: Semester Long Algebra 1 A This student was recommended for semester long Algebra 1. 1 st semester this student had 1 st period Vocal Music 1, 2 nd period World Hist and Geo, 3 rd period Health Sci Education & 4 th period Algebra 1.

Typical 9 th Grade Honors Schedule If 8 th graders take Hon. Algebra 1 & Hon. Physical Science, schedule will look similar based on electives selected. If a student is recommended for Hon. English from 8 th grade English teacher, student will also be in AP Human Geography. Math recommendation from 8 th grade is Hon. Geometry & Science recommendation is Hon. Chemistry. We try and balance schedule each semester with core academic classes and electives.

Final thoughts… • If you do not complete registration request, counselors will select classes for you! • Deadline to return your Change in Placement Form 5/1/21. Forms must be returned to Carter High School Counseling office if you are wanting to change out of a course you were recommended for by your teacher. Course recommendations will not be granted after 5/1/21 deadline. • Parents/guardians- please keep contact information updated.
