Members of Personnel • 2007 demonstrates visible reduction of Staff in accordance with Personnel Plan (White Paper). • However, significant increases in all non-staff areas (Users, Paid Associates, Unpaid. . . ) • Compared with 10 years ago, significant change in staff : non-staff ratio prev next
Category Evolution In line with CERN/FC/5152 : “Visible reduction in administrative services personnel in favour of technical services” i. e. Noticeable cut in Cat 5 prev next
Gender • 10 year trend - globally positive trend • However, 2007 shows small decrease in % women staff due as a side effect of category 5 reductions • Noticeably positive evolution for users & unpaid associates. prev next
Age & Seniority • First time in 10 years, 1997 demonstrates a small reversal of the decrease in age & seniority • “Whale” shaped age-profile curb of the 90 s is now smoother, i. e. more equalised age profile. prev next
Staff Recruitment • Despite significant reduction in new recruits, we try to maintain nationality mix where possible. prev next

Conclusion • 2007 demonstrates visible implementation of Workforce Plan identified in White Paper : – general reduction in staff, – specific reduction in administrative staff, – less staff recruitment These are challenging reductions. • Additionally, we observe move into LHC operations era at CERN (increase of users & non-staff programmes) • Increased regular monitoring on this basis is allowing us to address the challenges pro-actively during 2008.
