CAMP MCDOWELL STOCK MEDICATION: ■ The Camp Mc. Dowell nurse stocks the following (over the counter) OTC medication: ■ Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) ■ Acetaminophen (Tylenol) ■ Benadryl ■ Pepto-Bismol ■ Tums ■ If the parent has completed the Camp Mc. Dowell OTC medication form, these medications will be administered AS NEEDED and there is no need to send those. A personal stock should only be sent if your student is on a scheduled dose administration.

OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION (non-stocked): ■ All other OTC medication should be provided by parent in an original, unopened container with the manufacturer’s recommended dosage and directions intact. ■ Travel Size is preferable. (Please do not send 50 pills for 2 nights. ) ■ An Alabama OTC Parent/Prescriber Authorization (PPA) form will need to be completed for EACH medication brought by parent. The link to this form can be found on the Madison City Schools website under “Health Services” and “Forms” or under my bio page on the Madison Elementary website. ■ These medications are typically Zyrtec, Claritin, Allegra, Dramamine, etc. ■ We will not be sending daily vitamins. Your student will be ok for a couple of days without a vitamin.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION: ■ Medication that your student already has an order for and is kept at school will be sent with your child. There is no need for a new order. You will still need to fill out the “Medication Packing Sheet” portion and send it in with other completed forms. ■ Any medication that requires a prescription for daily or emergency use (ADHD, asthma, anaphylaxis, seizure, etc. ) but is not kept or given while at school will require a Parent/Physician Authorization (PPA) form to be completed and signed by a physician. ■ Any prescription medication must be brought to the clinic and signed in and counted with the school nurse. ■ **If your child requires an Epi. Pen or any other injection, please contact the Camp Mc. Dowell nurse at 205 -387 -1806 ext 125 or rn@campmcdowell. com (Stacey Glenn, RN)

WHEN TO BRING MEDICATION TO SCHOOL: ■ No medication will be accepted by the nurse or the medication assistant on the morning of the field trip! No medication should be kept with the student or in their luggage unless ordered by the physician for emergencies and has been evaluated for safety by the school nurse. ■ Drop Off Days – Thursday, October 1, 2020 – Friday, October 2, 2020 ■ Hours – 7: 10 AM-2: 30 PM Ask to see the nurse to sign in medication for Camp Mc. Dowell. Please allow extra time if you come between 11: 30 -12: 30 as that is a busy time in the clinic for medication distribution and they are my first priority.
