Other Points Discussed: 1. Prevention of Re-contamination (reduce at minimum air exposure with LNL

Other Points Discussed: 1. Prevention of Re-contamination (reduce at minimum air exposure with LNL standard packaging) 2. Dimensions of samples for Gamma Analysis: IIS treats sample of maximum 100 mm 3. IIS has to identify another company for Flame Treatments: at the moment the quotation is for 54 samples (atmospheric Plasma), any variation of number of samples or Treatment Technique is a variation of cost Oscar. azzolini@lnl. infn. it Giorgio. keppel@lnl. infn. it 3

Atmospheric Plasma Treatment • Surface treatment tests using atmospheric plasma, carried out on acrylic samples measuring 50 x 50 mm 5 mm thick Variables of the experiment: 1. Typology di gas (n. 9 different technical gas) - Synthetic Air(in cylinder) - Ar - He - N 2 - Ar-50%He - Ar-5%O 2 - Ar-5%H 2 - N 2 -5%H 2 - 70%Ar - 20%He - 8%CO 2 - 2%O 2 Oscar. azzolini@lnl. infn. it Giorgio. keppel@lnl. infn. it 4

2. Feed speed (V): For each gas, the tests will be performed at 3

2. Feed speed (V): For each gas, the tests will be performed at 3 different feed speeds (V 1, V 2, V 3). 3. Nozzle distance (H): for each gas value and speed, 2 different values of the distance of the piece will be performed (H 1, H 2) A total of 54 tests will be carried out. Characterization of samples after treatment (2 samples 10 x 10): The treated samples will be sent wrapped in aluminum foil and sealed in separate plastic bags for UV testing. (WHO? Transparency? ) FT-IR investigations performed before and after the treatment, and SEM micrography after the treatment. (IIS) Time and cost: The activity could start in late July or Beginning of September. The cost for what described is equal to € 6, 200 + VAT. This list takes into account both operating costs and the FT-IR-SEM carried out on 2 samples and gas cylinders. Oscar. azzolini@lnl. infn. it Giorgio. keppel@lnl. infn. it 5
