You have 20 minutes to do this task. You have received a letter from your English-speaking pen-friend Jake who writes: . . . Yesterday in our Social Studies lesson we discussed our personalities. I don't know who I am, but I know who I want to be a performer. I love music and dance. I love being the centre of attention. Playing rock makes me feel great. Have you made up your mind about your future? Do your teachers discuss the issues of choosing your future job in their lessons? Do you think your personal qualities influence the jobs we choose? By the way, I'm going to take a gap year before going to the university and I have huge plans!. . . Write a letter to Jake In your letter • answer his questions • ask 3 questions about Jake's plans for the gap year he is going to take before going to the university. Write 100 -140 words. Choosing my future job is still a burning issue in my family and at school. I haven’t decided yet, but I know that I want to work with computers. You know that I have always been interested in new technologies and my Math’s teacher says I have analytical mind. So it looks like I have all it needs to become a good programmer. Similarly to your situation both our teachers and parents are worried about our future and try to help discussing various possibilities at school and at home. A lot of school-leavers are worried about choosing their future job. I’m thinking about it, too. Out teachers often tell us about different professions. Several days ago our Literature teacher told us about famous journalists and what it involves to be a journalist. It sounded really exciting. I agree with you that we have to choose out future occupation according to our likes and dislikes and taking into consideration our personal qualities. For example, if you can’t stand noise, you’d better stop thinking about becoming a teacher.

Yesterday we went to the cinema to watch a new comedy. There were three of us: Jane, her brother Jake and me. I was wearing a very nice dress as I wanted Jake to like me. The weather was nice. Jake offered to walk. I really liked the idea of walking instead of going by bus. We walked through a very nice park. Jake proved to be a very interesting person and it was interesting to discuss different things with him. The film was really interesting, but my friend Jane said that the book the film is based on is more interesting. I liked the film, too. The main character was a very nice person and the plot was interesting.

Yesterday we went to the cinema to watch a new comedy. There were three of us: Jane, her brother Jake and me. I was wearing a very smart /elegant dress as I wanted Jake to fancy me. The weather was glorious/lovely. Jake offered to walk. I welcomed the idea of walking instead of going by bus. We walked through a very beautifully landscaped park. Jake proved to be a very knowledgeable/educated/intelligent person and it was exciting to discuss different things with him. The film was really fascinating/gripping, but my friend Jane said that the book the film is based on is more absorbing/intriguing. I enjoyed the film, too. The main character was a very kind/gentle person and the plot was complicated/spellbinding/riveting.
