College application For those of you who are looking to attend college upon graduation, taking Marketing will give you at least three extra opportunities you can take

College Application • Taking 2+ marketing courses: • If you take two or more

College Application • Taking 2+ marketing courses: • If you take two or more Marketing courses, you will receive a special seal on your diploma from the Virginia Department of Education! • I teach five different classes, so your combination can be any two of my classes

College Application: Co-op: Cooperative Education, or Co-op, is a program where you will earn

College Application: Co-op: Cooperative Education, or Co-op, is a program where you will earn an extra credit for completion of 280 work hours in conjunction with your Marketing class. • 50% of each nine weeks’ grade comes from work and 50% comes from class, so it’s a great way to bring up your grade if you’re doing well at work. • It also shows that you can balance school + working, which colleges love because it means that you can manage your time and are well-rounded outside of just school. • Co-op ensures a work release block too, even for juniors, so it’s

College Application • DECA: As a member of a Marketing course, you are eligible

College Application • DECA: As a member of a Marketing course, you are eligible to join DECA, as well as participate in DECA competitive events. • DECA is a national co-curricular club that looks EXCELLENT on college applications, especially if you are interested in studying business, management, finance, hospitality, etc. • It is a nationwide organization, so no matter where you apply to college, it is recognized! -- $20 dues get you local, state, and national membership

School store • Now that we are in the new building, we have school

School store • Now that we are in the new building, we have school store space to use in every class!! • It hasn’t been utilized this year because of many Covid-related factors: • Small numbers in every class • No lingering in halls before school or during class changes • Minimizing touching of common surfaces • Traffic in the area of the store is closed off • Social distancing makes running a small space much harder • The goal for next year is to create a schoolbased enterprise, aka, school store. We would sell CSHS spirit wear and other goods. The start-up for this would be an AMAZING skill to put on your college applications. There are roles for everyone:

Intro to Marketing • Intro to Marketing is a fabulous introductory class for students who wish to pursue business or marketing and who want to learn the base-level marketing concepts. I would highly suggest this class if you want to take the upper-level classes so that you learn the basic terms and concepts: • Marketing trends, mix, and functions • Social media marketing • Holiday and seasonal marketing • Product development • Promotion and advertising • Exploring careers
