Literacy Writing, reading, listening and talking skills are taught through IDL topic work Different

Literacy Writing, reading, listening and talking skills are taught through IDL topic work Different writing genres: Letter, instructions, account, poetry, imaginative etc. - novel studies - Independent comprehension tasks - Buddy reading, teacher led questioning These will be differentiated accordingly

What will Spelling look like? We will follow our school progressive spelling policy. On

What will Spelling look like? We will follow our school progressive spelling policy. On a Monday the teacher will introduce the sound for the week. The children will have a differentiated spelling list but they will all learn the same spelling pattern. Over the week they will have the opportunity to practise the spelling pattern using multi- sensory teaching strategies. In addition to these, we also practise common words. P 2/3 are following literacy rich.

Numeracy and Maths We follow a skills progression based on the Curriculum for Excellence Benchmarks. Core numeracy skills children are expected to have in first level. SEAL: 5 key strands in number - Sequence and order numbers to 1000 - Round whole numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 - Use place value to partition 3 digit numbers into H T U - Addition & Subtraction - Multiplication & Division

Each class has 2 pupil Council class reps We would love to hear about any achievements outside of school on the OLLJs or shared through homework. P 4 swimming will start on Wednesday 23 rd October. P 3 (May) and P 4 (Feb) will have BATS rugby taster sessions later in the year.

Reporting We are using Online Learning Journals to report to you on your child’s progress. We also use OLLJs to share learning activities undertaken in class. There will be a minimum number of comments per term which will be set out in our Reporting Policy Parent Consultations will be held twice a year

Home School Learning in P 2 -4 A home learning wall will be sent

Home School Learning in P 2 -4 A home learning wall will be sent home each term. Spelling pattern and word lists will be given to parents and are published on the school website. Spelling tasks will be included in the home learning wall. All children will be asked to complete a long term project linked to a topic in class once or twice a year. They will be given a deadline for completion and the sharing of this learning. By the end of each term, aim to complete at least one box from each coloured section. All home learning journals should be brought into school on a MONDAY.
