Jillian Snediker Instructional Reading Specialist 1 -2 Implementing Wilson Fundations What is Wilson Fundations? Teacher incorporates a 30 -minute Fundations lesson 2 times per week for scholars who are struggling with letter sounds and recognition. Fundations lessons focus on carefully sequenced skills that include print knowledge, alphabet awareness, phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and spelling. Critical thinking, speaking and listening skills are practiced during Story-time activities.

Jillian Snediker Instructional Reading Specialist 3 -6 Implementing our Read 180 Program for our scholars who would benefit from a reading intervention service. What is Read 180? Researched based reading intervention program, which is uniquely positioned to address the needs of struggling readers. Targeted skills include: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, academic vocabulary, spelling, writing, global perspectives, and college and career readiness skills. Who is selected for this program? Scholars who are recommended through our Intervention Service Team will be receiving this program. Based on teacher feedback, parents’ concerns, NWEA assessments, NYS Exams, Lexile Levels, and Benchmark Assessments.

Sophia Cappuccio Speech-Language Therapist SLPs work with school children who have communication problems that affect success in: Classroom activities, social interaction, literacy, learning. These communication problems may include: Language Slow development of vocabulary, concepts or grammar. Inability to use different communication styles for different situations. Poor building blocks of understanding/expressing ideas, social development, learning, reading, and writing. Voice Fluency or stuttering Articulation SLPs combine communication goals with academic and social goals Integrate classroom objectives, support reading and writing, increase students’ understanding of texts and lessons.
