CHF • Market survey in preparation (> 200 k. CHF) • Delivery 2017 questionable* • MKP LSS 1 cable replacement as an option. FC required once option activated (before LS 2) Draka was at CERN yesterday and confirmed that they have the capacity to produce the full quantity (10 km) in 3 / 4 months. Order to be placed before 07/2017 at the latest for delivery in 12/2017 * The ? is at CERN with purchase procedure (Spec committee + MS + IT).

Integration • Transmission routing via the upper ECX 5 -ECA 5 level as preferred

Integration • Transmission routing via the upper ECX 5 -ECA 5 level as preferred option • Routing via the ECX 5 -ECA 5 ground floor level not possible due to cable bending radius and reduced space available at the level of the elevator • Detailed integration study ongoing • Scan ECX 5 -ECA 5 gallery done • Physical closure of ECX 5 -ECA 5 windows after transmission line installation (closure must be air tight for protection of the shaft against smoke in case of fire) Under discussion with SPS Fire safety project & HSE • Access to the technical shaft from Level 0 via existing crinoline after closure of the 2 windows (Technical shaft is not an evacuation path) Under study with HSE • Removal of sector doors YDPS 01. 556=PT 55 & and doors YDPS 01. 516=PT 51 New SPS sectorisation under study (SPS Access System Project) • Cable ladders integration and cable routing Under study by EN-EL

EYETS 17 -18 - Strategy • Install kicker platform in ECA 5 • Cable start / additional cable length will be stored under the platform • Install cable ladders from kicker platform in ECA 5 up to magnet location in LSS 5 • Work over Christmas CERN probably required if cable available in order to be ready beginning of 2018 to start cable pulling • If cable available: start pulling cable from ECA 5 to LSS 5 • Cable pulling campaign duration ~8 weeks (2 shifts) • MKDV transmission line must normally be installed first. Transmission lines will be installed on the top of the tunnel and first magnet is a MKDV (before QD. 51710 ). • Connectors mounting (both sides) to be scheduled during LS 2 (2 x 8 weeks) • If cable not available: start cable routing at the beginning of LS 2 during LSS 5+ de-cabling campaign (MKDV)
