Activities in the past 2 weeks • BA 1: • 131 -132 -133 vacuum recovery; • TT 10 vacuum recovery; • BA 3: • Vacuum recovery of 311 -312, 361 -362; • LSS 3 – layout checks for cabling_2 nd check; • BA 5: • Pumpdown of 511; • Alignment checks in 512 and 520; Pumpdown of 512. • Layout checks in LSS 5 (before the passerelle); • 562 pumpdown and leak detection; 561 1 QD SSS left to be done. • TDC 2 consolidation: study the feasibility of the ‘upgraded’ window valve. 2

Pumpdowns Lengthy pumpdowns (ion pump flashing) – arcs/DS are behaving all similarly. 3

Pumpdowns Lengthy pumpdowns in LS 1 too, very similar pumpdown considering we are comparing 1 arc with an half arc (double pumping speed). For info: 510 – LS 1 1 year exposure; 411 – LS 2 3 months exposure; Longer exposure --> difficult flashing. 4

Pumpdowns - summary • Pumpdown on TMPs is strongly dependent on: • Exposure time to air: • Location of the openings, length of the intervention; • It strongly affects the behaviour of the ion pumps during flashing; is becoming a limiting factor (all SPS pumping groups are in use at the minute). • New ion pumps shows a more ‘stable’ behaviour to flashing, but still the process is lenghty in time. • For long exposures (LS 1 and LS 2), pumpdowns are very similar for coated and uncoated sectors; • Pressure recovery once on ion pumps, is very similar for coated and uncoated sectors, after long exposure. • After LS 2 I would test ion pumps performace at different exposures to air/N 2/noble gases. 6

LSS 2 – radiation damaged cables Endorsed both by the IEFC and the LS 2 C: all 25 ion pump cables will be exchanged. Additionally, together with TE-ABT and BE-BI we are listing possible additional cables that are critical for machine operation. In our case: • Gauges; • Valves; 7

LIU-Projects: LSS 1 & LSS 5 status • BOM list updated EDMS 2217091 • LSS 1 – WDP for reinstallation to be reviewed with RP: estimated doses are to the roof!

Activities in the upcoming 2 weeks • BA 3: • Vacuum recovery of 311 -312, 361 -362; • Preparation for the cavities reinstallation phase (beginning Dec). • BA 4: • Preparation for the TPSC 4 and impedance optimisation in 418; • BA 5: • Vacuum recovery of 512 - 562; • Transfer lines: • TT 60, TT 40, TI 2, TI 8 vacuum recovery of the static sectors; • TDC 2 consolidation: study the feasibility of the ‘upgraded’ window valve. • TI 8: reconnection of the quad MQID. 87100. 11
